SoCLA National Conference 2026 · Sydney
Battle of the Bands
Thursday 7 May 2026 · Oxford Art Factory, Sydney
About the Event
Law Rocks is a global charity that brings the legal community together for high-energy battle-of-the-bands fundraisers — where legal professionals get to step off the floor and onto the stage.
Founded in the UK almost 20 years ago, it now tours internationally — Paris, Abu Dhabi, Dallas, San Francisco, Houston, New York.
The mission: raise funds for local charities, promote music education for under-resourced young people, and give legal professionals the chance to finally unleash their inner rock stars.
The Format
Each band plays a full set. Crowd-pleasers are strongly encouraged — pack your setlist with bangers.
No originals. This is a crowd event — stick to the songs people know and love.
Rock is the spirit of the event, but all genres and styles are welcome on stage.
Backline provided on the night. Can't travel with gear? Get in touch early and we'll help sort logistics.
No professional musicians — but each band is allowed one semi-professional "ringer" per lineup.
Bands compete for the crowd — and the cause. Proceeds go to charities nominated by each band.
Eligibility
Bands must meet these requirements to be eligible to play:
Each band may nominate a local charity to receive a share of proceeds from ticket sales, sponsorship, and donations. This isn't just a battle of the bands — it's a fundraiser with real impact.
This is a charity-driven event and SoCLA is a non-profit. Bands are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation costs. We appreciate your commitment to the cause.
If you can't travel with instruments, let us know early. We may be able to assist with instrument logistics — deliveries, gear loans from other bands — with reasonable notice.
This event only proceeds if we get sufficient band expressions of interest. Register your band now — even if your lineup isn't finalised yet.
Not in a band? Know someone who might be? Forward this page to anyone in the legal or construction world with a musical streak.
